Terms of Service

The service

GuardingWP is a WordPress security scanner operated by Ramon Horst Media. It checks publicly accessible WordPress sites for common security misconfigurations and known plugin vulnerabilities. Results are informational — they are not a guarantee that a site is secure or insecure.

Acceptable use

You may only scan sites you own or have explicit written permission to scan.

Scanning a site without authorisation may violate computer-misuse laws in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to the Dutch Computer Crime Act, the UK Computer Misuse Act, and the US Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

By submitting a URL to GuardingWP, you confirm that you own the site or have explicit permission from the site owner to run a security scan.

You may not use GuardingWP to:

  • Scan sites without authorisation
  • Probe internal or private network addresses
  • Automate scans in a way that overwhelms the service or third-party sites
  • Resell access to the scanner without permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the scanner itself

Scan logging

We log the IP address, timestamp, and submitted URL for every scan. This data is retained for 90 days and used solely for abuse prevention. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Notify us at hello@guardingwp.com immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Subscriptions and billing

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial periods.

The Fix Service is a one-time, manually delivered service. Once work has begun, refunds are not available. If we cannot complete the work, we will issue a full refund.

The Forensic Toolkit is a digital download delivered immediately upon purchase. By completing checkout you confirm you have read the prerequisite requirements (SSH access on your hosting plan) and you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU in exchange for immediate access. All sales are final. If you genuinely cannot use the Toolkit due to a prerequisite issue we failed to disclose clearly, contact hello@guardingwp.com — we will assess case-by-case.

Disclaimer of warranties

GuardingWP is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Scan results are based on publicly available information at the time of the scan. We do not guarantee that results are complete, accurate, or up to date. A passing scan result does not mean your site is free from vulnerabilities.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ramon Horst Media is not liable for any damages arising from your use of GuardingWP, including but not limited to security incidents, data loss, or business interruption.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the Netherlands.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of GuardingWP after changes constitutes acceptance.
